AALL Archives Holdings

The AALL Archives includes 355.8 cubic feet and about 80.24 gigabytes in 240 record series. The collection is arranged according to a three-part scheme of record group, sub-group, and record series number. The six main groupings are as follows: 85/1/001-199 contain records of the Executive Board, officers, and administrators at AALL headquarters; 85/1/200-399 include the papers of past presidents and personal papers of other association members; 85/1/400-499 consist of committees (both standing and special); 85/1/500-599 contain Special Interest Sections; 85/1/600-699 consist of chapters and regional associations; and 85/1/700-799 hold caucuses. Supplemental finding aids (box and folder lists) are available for many record series. Highlights of the collection include photographs of AALL annual conventions dating back to 1906 (85/1/157), annual meeting programs (85/1/150), transcripts (85/1/156), video and audio recordings (85/1/158 and 85/1/160, respectively), and papers of past presidents, including A. J. Small, the first president (85/1/201), Helen Newman, long-time secretary and later president (85/1/202), and William R. Roalfe, originator of the Roalfe Plan in 1930 and later president (85/1/207).
