Established in 1963, the University of Illinois Archives includes more than 21,000 cubic feet of office records, publications, and personal papers from the University and the Urbana-Champaign campus. The Archives' files or record series are arranged according to office of origin. The files are described in over 12,500 pages of finding aids and have been subject-indexed. Series level descriptions and supplementary finding aids (box and folder listings) are available through a searchable database. The University of Illinois is also the repository for the American Library Association Archives and other professional associations
The Archives is a unifying influence that recognizes and strengthens faculty and student ties to the university as a scholarly community. While it is most useful for modern American intellectual, cultural, and social history, it contains research material for the educator, political scientist, sociologist, economist, and journalist. It is especially strong in the history of science and technology, agriculture, architecture, athletics, librarianship, education, and student life.
