Description: Collection of publications relating to American life in the 20th century, particularly rural America, including USDA and state experiment station bulletins and handbooks, catalogs and manuals of manufacturers and manufacturing associations concerning the sale, operation, maintenance and repair of automobiles, trucks, plows, spreaders, tractors and other farm machinery; tire selection and repair; gasoline, oil and lubricants; electrical wiring; electrical appliances including washers, ironers, vacuum cleaners, refrigerators, ranges, and other kitchen appliances; water supply equipment and general farming practices. The collection also contains the brochures and circulars of political groups in support of universal military training, war bonds and states' rights; promotional literature on southern California (1914) and Ithaca, New York (ca. 1940); popular magazines and related documentation; and a copy of The Ladies Home Journal, March 1918 (OS-35).
