Correspondence of Acting Regent Thomas J. Burrill, including three letters from James Hall concerning the availability of Andrew S. Draper for the presidency (3/5/92), James O. Cunningham concerning the rights of women to vote for or serve as university trustees (5/10/94) and President Jacob G. Schurman of Cornell concerning the availability of Horatio S. White and Jeremiah W. Jenks for the presidency (3/9/94).Â Burrill endorsed the Hall letter "I am convinced the Judge Draper is the man we want."

The series also includes a letter from J. O. Cunningham to Burrill (11/12/1892) discussing the role of religion at the University of Illinois and the legality of its supporting the Y.M.C.A.
