Description: Papers of George Scouffas, professor of English (1951-85), including correspondence between Kerker Quinn (1940-48), and Scouffas (1953-56) and other Accent editors and contributors; manuscripts of poems, book reviews, and short stories sent to Accent; and Accent business correspondence and files (1940-71). Correspondence is about manuscripts, revisions, the quality of Accent, advertising, copyright permissions, exchanges, and lectures. Correspondents include 124 authors listed in American Literature Section's 1970 checklist of American authors. This series also includes Scouffas' research and materials relating to Nicholas Vachel Lindsay gathered for a Ph.D thesis (1926-51). These materials include 2 signed and numbered posters designed by Vachel Lindsay, 2 photographs, 0.6 cubic feet of index cards containing research notes, and 2 typed manuscript copies of Scouffas' thesis "Vachel Lindsay: A Study in Retreat and Repudiation."
