Description: Papers of Florian Znaniecki (1882-1958), professor of sociology (1939-49), including the typewritten manuscript, galley proofs, page proofs, layouts of cover and title page, and signatures of Modern Nationalities (University of Illinois, 1952). The series includes correspondence concerning revision and publication of the manuscript and copies of reprints of articles on "Social Organization and Institutions," "Controversies in Doctrine and Method" (1945), and "Sociological Ignorance in Social Planning" (1945). This series also includes photocopies of manuscripts on "What are Sociological Problems?," Chapters II-VI of a book concerning sociology of university students, and copies of notes from literature; published articles; unpublished works and papers, including "The Functions of Definitions in Sociology" and "The Evolutionary Approach to History;" correspondence concerning publications, teaching positions, citizenship and honors (1919-58); press clippings; and correspondence on the Znaniecki Global Studies Program, including copies from other archives.
