Description: Memoir of Daniel K. Bloomfield (1926- ), Dean of the School of Basic Medical Sciences at Urbana-Champaign and University of Illinois College of Medicine at Urbana-Champaign (1970-1984), "A Dean's Tale: Lessons in Academic Politics" (1999), provides an account of his administration of the Urbana-Champaign medical school and his efforts to move it from a one-year to a four-year program, and develop its curriculum and administration. A Dean's Tale includes copies of documents relating to the School/College's history and commentary on medical education, relations with the University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center, Urbana-Champaign campus, Champaign-Urbana area medical facilities and services, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, School of Life Sciences, grant and research funding, and 1981-1982 reorganization proposals.
