Description: Commencement Committee file of the chairman of the Senate commencement committee, including correspondence, instructions and procedures, programs, lists of participants, clippings, seating plans and related documents concerning February and June commencement and convocation exercises, suggested revisions of procedures, caps and gowns, attendance and arrangements for speakers. The file contains a tabulation of degrees awarded, 1938-50, the results of a 1952 poll which resulted in changing the mid-year exercises to a convocation, correspondence with speakers, e.g. John F. Kennedy (1957), minutes of commencement committee (1957-66), policies and procedures (1952-71, 1976-82), budget papers (1951-71, 1976-82), president's comments (1960-67), trustee's speeches (1964-85) and material on commencement procedures at other schools (1961-67).
