The concerts and Entertainment Board is a committee composed of faculty, graduate students and undergraduate students who oversee the student-run organization Star Course.¹ The precedent for Star Course came from the Philomathean and Adelphic literary societies founded in 1868. These groups soon began to sponsor entertainments and speeches by notable Americans.² In 1927 the Board of Trustees granted to Star Course the supervision of all professional musical attractions at the University.³ The Star Course, a non-profit organization, is managed by students who are selected through interviews.⁴
