Description: Papers of Phillips L. Garman (1910-86), Professor of Labor and industrial Relations (1947-76) include correspondence and clippings relating to administration of ILIR extension programs, adult and continuing education, the Labor and Industrial Relations Building, the Doctoral program, faculty searches, undergraduate tutorials and the strike of custodial employees, Local 119 of the Building Service employees' International Union, against the University of Illinois (February and March 1966). This series also includes reports, pamphlets, publications, clippings, correspondence, minutes, and notes relating to the Home Town Plan for affirmative action in Champaign County building trades (1974-75), summer schools for the International Association of Machinists (1959), and Steelworkers (1957), and student demands for Harrison High School (Chicago).
