Description: Papers of Eldon Johnson, Vice President (1966-72) and Vice President for Government Relations & Public Service (1972-75) and Vice President for Academic Affairs (1975-77) including correspondence, minutes and proposal drafts from Johnson's term as chairman of the Illinois Council for the Humanities and Public Issues (ICHPI) with the National Endowment for the Humanities staff (9/72 - 11/76) about a NEH National Meeting of Chairman (March 21, 1975) and the Jefferson Lectures (1974-76).  The series includes correspondence and reports concerning Overseas Liaison committee activities of the American Council on Education (10/71 - 8/72); a report from the Advisory Committee for the national Defense Language Development Program (Feb. 19-20, 1967); correspondence concerning university development at the University of Malawi (7/66 - 9/73) and the University of Nairobi, (10/66 - 9/10) and service on the Education and World Affairs Organization's Education & Human Resources Development Committee (9/66 - 3/70).
