Description: The National Arts Education Research Center (1987-1995) publications includes brochures, a statement of purpose, advertising, and draft copies of publications. The Center - founded in 1987 through funding by the National Endowment for the Arts and later reorganized as a unit of the College of Fine and Applied Arts - was created for the purpose of consulting on and conducting surveys and research in all areas of arts education, developing computer-based instructional programs, and planning and conducting workshops. Publications include The Status of Arts Education in American Public Schools, Custom and Cherishing: The Arts in Elementary Schools, Musical Skills: A Computer Based Assessment, Dance Education in American Public Schools, and The Arizona State University K-6 Drama Theatre Curriculum Guide. The Director was Dr. Charles Leonhard.
