Typescript copy of the "Semi-Centennial History of the College of Engineering, University of Illinois, 1870-1920" written by Ira O. Baker, emeritus professor of civil engineering, describing the development of the college and covering curricula, faculty, texts, shop practice, student affairs, graduates and related topics.
Appendices list engineering staff (1870-1920) and bulletins and circulars published by the Experiment Station. This copy includes copies of letters from Baker to Dean Milo S. Ketchum about writing the history. A carbon copy of the history contains an additional 10 pages concerning illustrations for the TEXT. The file also includes a copy of the first chapter of Baker's "History of the College of Engineering..." concerning the founding of the first four departments, teaching methods, texts, student body and faculty biographies for the 1870-80 period.
