Papers of Louis Bemis Wetmore (1912- ), Professor of Urban & Regional Planning (1955-76) & department head (1955-65), contains correspondence, memoranda, meeting minutes, reports, draft essays and studies, blueprints, plans, biographical records, photographs, audiocassettes, slides, notes, bibliographies, contracts, case studies, course materials, budgets, newsletters, newspaper clippings, lectures, and publications concerning consulting; conferences; Department of Urban and Regional Planning; Bureau of Community Planning; Urban Planning curriculum and workshops; planning education, including a history of planning education relating to the Department of Urban and Regional Planning Anniversary Celebration (1983-85); research and professional practice studies, including the Chicago Lakefront Study (1966-73), sabbatical study on planning and development programs of Providence, RI and Toronto, Ontario (1974), Chicago Comprehensive Plan (1943-78), Indianapolis Transportation Corridor Study (1971), Model Cities Program (1966-67), Chicago Community Renewal Program (1960-1965), Jackson Park Study (1965-66), and Chicago Crosstown Expressway Study (1966); and committees and associations, including the Chicago Planning Commission (1963-75), American Institute of Planners (1949-83), American Planning Association (1985-92), Highway Research Board of the National Academy of Sciences (1956-78), the State of Illinois Board of Higher Education (1965-68), Barton-Aschman Associates, Inc.
