Scope and Contents

Centennial Committee Records, including correspondence, minutes, resolutions, reports, programs, calendars, special publications, newspapers, scrapbooks and related documents concerning the February 28, 1967 - March 11, 1968 observance of the University's Centennial. The series includes records of the Centennial Committee under the chairmanship of Dean Fred H. Turner; reports and correspondence from related committees; correspondence with staff concerning centennial events, symposia and ceremonies; congratulatory resolutions from Illinois municipalities; documents on the Illinois Sesquicentennial; scrapbooks containing clippings, photographs and programs concerning the centennial year; buttons, medals, posters and promotional items; programs for symposia and special events; "Hosts of Earnest Men" - a 16mm color movie; centennial and sesquicentennial flags; special editions of newspapers and supplements and files on anniversary observances at other institutions.
