Papers of Elmer Roberts, '13, '17, professor of animal genetics (1920-54), including copies of 44 publications on research in animal genetics (chickens, swine, cattle, sheep, rodents and horses, 1935-56), hereditary resistance and susceptibility to disease, immunity, Mendelian inheritance and related topics and a tape recorded recollection (1967) on agriculture at the University of Illinois, Eugene Davenport, Agricultural Experiment Station, animal genetics and the support of the College of Agriculture by farmers and farm organizations. The series includes Plant and Animal Improvement (1925) and Heredity: What and How We Inherit (1949). The series includes a copy of Richard Oglesby's 1894 impromptu speech on corn (1898), travel publication on Mammoth Cave, Kentucky, China and the city of Peking, plus scholarly articles on Chinese and Japanese Culture (1928-30), Peking Leader Press reprints; lists of Roberts' publications, scientific acquaintances, talks and lectures, and organizational memberships; a folder on James A. Hunter (B.S. in Agriculture, University of Illinois, 1914) and his interest in China; a collection of Planned Parenthood newsletters (1970-72) and publications dealing with world population problems; and diagrams illustrating the history of genetics and drosophila research (c. 1936).
