The School of Education was organized April 27, 1905 "to provide for the professional training of teachers."

Chronological
Printed bulletins in the Illinois Curriculum Program (1952- ) and Illinois Secondary School Curriculum (1948-52) series sponsored by the Illinois Superintendent of Public Instruction and the Bureau of Research and Service. The bulletins are devoted to curriculum improvement, curriculum studies materials, experimental projects and programs to assist local school organizations and agencies in studying their curricular needs.
Numbers 9 and 12 are missing. The series includes The Illinois Curriculum Program (1958), Bulletins C-1, C-2 and C-4 (1957-59) and G-2-A (1958) and Consensus Studies 8-C and 10-Band C (1953). Dr. Charles W. Sanford, Coordinator of Teacher Education, was the first director of the Illinois Secondary School Curriculum Program, and many College of Education faculty members participated in the preparation of the bulletins. The Program offices were located on the University campus.
