Scope and Contents

Collection of Wendell Miller (Professor Emeritus, 1948-1986) concerning departmental history includes photos, notes, reprints of articles, correspondence, draft articles, and publications concerning the history of the Electrical Engineering Department, primarily as it evolved from 1867 to 1945. His "Electrical Engineering at the University of Illinois" was expected to be volume I of a two volume series covering the entire history of the department. The materials Miller collected emphasize peoples and events in the department, especially anecdotal accounts and stories about faculty and students. Extensive notes and draft copies of the history, part of which were published in the 1989 edition of Electrical and Chemical Engineering Alumni News, are also included.
