Benjamin A. Jones was born April 16, 1926 on a small farm near Mahomet, IL. He received a B.S. (1949) and M.S. (1959) degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). He worked as assistant professor and assistant extension agricultural engineer in the Agricultural Engineering Department at the University of Vermont, Burlington (1950-1952). Jones returned to UIUC in 1952 and completed his Ph.D. in 1958 while working as instructor and later assistant professor in the Agricultural Engineering Department. Professor Jones became an associate professor in 1958 and a full professor in 1964. He was also the Associate Director of the Illinois Agricultural Experiment Station from 1973 to 1992. He served on numerous professional organizations, was a Fellow of the American Society of Agricultural, and held numerous positions in the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE). He also served on the Committee of Nine, an advisory committee to the Secretary of the USDA (1974-1982).

This series contains Professor Jones's CV, his Master's thesis from the University of Illinois (1950), photographs, awards, and thank you notes to Professor Jones. This series is arranged with the CV first and then alphabetically.
This series consists of speeches, correspondence, water survey notes, reports, biographical data, resumes, Agricultural Experiment Station records when Jones was the Associate Director of the Experiment Station, Agricultural Engineering Department historical materials, and files pertaining to the American Association of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) files. This series is organized alphabetically.
This series consists of historical photographs and slides mostly pertaining to drainage systems, agricultural machinery, lab work, and the plowing and cultivation of fields.
This series contains meeting notes, correspondence, information booklets, constitution, proclamation, and history of the Alpha Epsilon Honor Society, an honor society for outstanding agricultural, biological, and food engineering students. This series is organized alphabetically.
Consists of journal articles and class textbooks authored and co-authored by Benjamin Jones. Journal articles are listed first and organized chronologically, followed by three of his class textbooks.
