Guide to Greek Houses at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign

Alpha Xi Delta House, circa 1989

In the early 1900s, a fraternity row became established on Green Street while sorority housing was concentrated on John Street.  A boom in the building of Greek houses occurred during the 1920s.  By then, the fraternity district had migrated southward, centering on Chalmers Street, and most sororities had moved to Urbana. (The photograph at right shows the Matthew Busey mansion, 715 W. Michigan, Urbana, which served for many years as the chapter house of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority. )

To view the current houses of the following Greek organizations, locate the names of the fraternities and sororities on the menu to the left.

(Note: Only Greek organizations with houses listed in the current UIUC directory are shown.)
