Biographical Note for Slavic and East European Librarians Section :

The Slavic and East European Section (SEES) represents librarians and specialists in the fields of Slavic and East European studies and is concerned with those aspects of library service which require knowledge of Slavic and East European Languages.  Its Committees include Automated Bibliographic Control, Conference Planning, Nominating, and Continuing Education on Slavic and East European Librarianship in North America (1).

The SEES began as the Slavic and East European Subsection of the Subject Specialists Section (SSS) of ACRL in 1963 (2), and became a section in its own right in 1972 when the SSS was dissolved and subsections became sections (3).

The SEES has published its Newsletter annually since 1985 (4).
