Biographical Note
Edward H. Davidson (1912- ) received his bachelor's degree from American University in 1934 and his Ph.D from Yale in 1940. He taught at Ohio University and Hunter College before joining the English faculty at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1951. In 1962-63 he served as Visiting Professor at Harvard, and in 1965 was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship. Research and scholarship interests include the work of Nathaniel Hawthorne, Jonathan Edwards, and Edgar Allen Poe. Professor Davidson retired in 1980.
