Description: The Papers of Edward C. Schmidt (1874-1942), professor of Railway Engineering (1901-03, 1906-19, 1921-40) and head of the department (1910-17, 1921-40), including reprints of professional articles and reports on curricula and history of the Railway Engineering Department (1933-1937). Additionally, the papers contain Schmidt's Preliminary Report of the Tests to Determine the Relative Resistance of Trains Equipped with Square and Loose Trucks (1911), which includes figures and photographs accompanying test results.
