Alpha Epsilon Phi is an historically Jewish national sorority founded in 1909. In 1918, the local sorority Delta Alpha Omega organized at the University of Illinois. In 1920, Delta Alpha Omega was installed as the Mu Chapter of Alpha Epsilon Phi. The installation banquet was held on May 4, 1920 at the Beardsley Hotel.

Strand of Pearls is a newsletter sent to the alumnae of the University of Illinois Mu chapter of Alpha Epsilon Phi. The newsletter contains information about centennial planning, alumnae news, and new members. The Alumnae News column provides information on the lives of sorority members including family life, careers, and education.
