Conference on Problems of Higher Education in Illinois material, including typewritten copies of minutes and letters; mimeographed memoranda and agendas; lists of delegates and committee members; printed announcements and galley proofs, and a report on conference progress by Coleman R. Griffith (5/5/39).
At a University Council meeting, July 13, 1937, a special committee was appointed to study the problems of higher education in Illinois and make recommendations to the President. As its first recommendation, the committee proposed that the University sponsor a major conference on the topic; the first session of the conference was held in April, 1938.
