With the changing of the status of the School of Journalism and Communications in 1957 to the College of Journalism and Communication, the office of the Dean of the College was formed.
The dean is the chief executive office of the college, responsible to the President for its administration. He is the agent of the college faculty for the execution of the college education policy. Other duties of the dean include calling and presiding over faculty meeting; making appointments, reappointments, or promotions of the faculty; overseeing registration of the students and serving as the medium of communication for official business of the college with campus authorities, students, and the public.
