Papers of the Ralph Allen Family of Delavan, Illinois, including Ralph Allen, Class of 1876 (1854-1927), Ada Eaton Allen (1858-1948), Edith L. Allen, Class of 1903 (1880- ), Paschal Allen, Class of 1905 (1881- ), Ralph Allen, Jr., Class of 1912 (1880-1975), Hester A. Allen, 1911-16, Harriet H. Allen, 1913-17, Eloise Allen Johns, Class of 1923, and other members of the family. The papers include correspondence, notes, publications, programs, photographs (1850-1970), tape recordings (1948-1967),certificates and diplomas, manuscripts for agricultural journals and speeches, newspaper clippings and scrapbooks concerning the family, farms and business affairs, ties with relatives and friends in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, schools, the University of Illinois, student life at the University, Presbyterian House, the Illinois Farmers Institute (1888-1927), soil testing programs, ranch life in Sand Springs, Montana (1909-1924), Reid's yellow dent corn, Tazewell County Farm Bureau, genealogy and the personal affairs of a rural family with a lively interest in education and scientific agriculture. Correspondents include Cyril G. Hopkins, Eugene Davenport, Frank I. Mann, John M. Gregory, Herbert W. Mumford and Perry G. Holden. Tape recordings include remarks by Joseph C. Blair, William L. Burlison, Paschal and Edith Allen and Chester G. Starr. The series includes correspondence on agriculture in Minas Geraes State, Brazil (1957). Also includes genealogical material (1623-1930), the family newsletter, Primrose Pantagraph (1921-64, 1990-2000), and Ralph Allen's diploma: Illinois Industrial University (1876).
