In 1937, the Faculty Senate approved a Code on Student Affairs, which stated that the Committee on Student Affairs would handle discipline.
On March 9, 1897, the Board of Trustees authorized employment of a policeman.

Chronological
Transcripts, exhibits and reports of hearings held by Albert Jenner, A.J. Rudasill and Harold A. Baker acting as Hearing Officers of the Senate Committee on Student Discipline regarding charges against students arising from disturbances on the Champaign-Urbana campus. The transcripts contain testimony of witnesses and cross, redirect and recross examinations by respondents or their counsels. Exhibits include affidavits, photos, statements of university policy on demonstrations and correspondence relevant to the disturbances on April 21, 1970 and May 6-8, 1970. The reports contain conclusions reached as to the disturbances resulting from demonstrations against General Electric and a cancellation of a speech by William Kunstler on March 2, 1970, against ROTC and the Armory Center and Central Warehouse on May 6-8, 1970, and against Marine recruiting at the Illini Union on May 6, 1971.
The series includes copies of motions filed, photographs of students and crowds, statements of witnesses, building plans, rocks and exhibits submitted to the hearing officers for the March 2, 1970 and May 6, 1971 disturbances.
