Historical Note:

Appointed in 1943,1 the Associate Dean of the College of Agriculture is the director of resident instruction, including academic records and curricular activities, and serves as secretary of the college faculty. His functions were previously handled by an assistant dean.2

1. Nov. 1943-44 Directory, Faculty & Students lists, for officers of the College of Agriculture, a position of Associate Dean which does not appear in the previous year's directory.

2. Directory, Faculty & Students, 1942, lists Robert R. Hudelson on p. 8 as Assistant Dean of the College of Agriculture. Ibid., 1943, lists him on p. 7 as Associate Dean. The change in Hudelson's position is also confirmed in Moores, Richard Gordon, Fields of Rich Toil: the Development of the University of Illinois College of Agriculture, University of Illinois Press, Urbana, 1970, p. 220.
