The Department of Farm Organization and Management was created June 9, 1914, on the recommendation of Dean Eugene Davenport,
On May 11, 1995, the Board of Trustees approved the renaming and reorganization of the College. It was renamed the College of Agricultural, Consumer, and Environmental Sciences and several changes were made in the organization of departments and divisions.
The stated mission of the department "is to improve the economic and environmental well-being of producers, consumers, and families."

Printed announcements and duplicated proceedings of the Annual Agricultural Industries Forum, including papers of the general session, papers on food processing, livestock marketing, poultry marketing, grain marketing, farm supplies and equipment, dairy marketing, feeds and fertilizers and area resource development. The agricultural Industries Forum began in 1959 as a replacement for the marketing programs formerly given during Farm and Home Week at the University. The papers are published by the Department of Agricultural Economics and bear the symbol AE from the printers office. Papers in Dairy Marketing are printed separately as bulletins of the department (RS 8/4/0/21).
