Under the Smith-Lever Act of 1914 and subsequent laws, the University is responsible for cooperative agricultural and home economics extension work, consisting of instruction and practical demonstrations for persons not attending the University through field demonstrations and publications.
On May 11, 1995, the Board of Trustees approved the renaming and reorganization of the College. It was renamed the College of Agricultural, Consumer, and Environmental Sciences and several changes were made in the organization of departments and divisions.

Chronological
Chats, the official publication of the National Association of Farm Broadcasters, appeared as R.F.D. in July 1944. The name became RFD Chats in 1949, NATRFD Chats in 1955, and NAFB Chats in 1965. The publication announced the organization's meetings, promotions, and marketing activities, reports on member activities, and offers articles on farm broadcasting history in 10 to 12 issues per year.

Insider's Report is a newsletter produced by NAFB's Sales/Marketing Board for the purpose of providing information to member investors about the Board's activities in promoting and marketing broadcast media for advertising, including monthly marketing surveys.
