Name: Olivadoti, Joseph (1893-1977)


Historical Note: Joseph Olivadoti (1893-1977) was born in Italy and immigrated from Cortale, Italy to the United States in 1911. During his early years in America he performed oboe for New York City's Italian community bands and orchestras. He eventually became a member of Chicago's "Million Dollar Band" (1927-37) lead by Harold Bachman and during World War II served in the U.S. Navy Band (1942-45). He eventually moved to California after the war and became a member of the Long Beach, California Municipal Band (1958-69). Throughout his career he composed music for band, created numerous instrumental music method books, and taught private music lessons.
