Description: Papers of Hardy Cross (1885-1959), Professor of Civil Engineering at University of Illinois (1921-1937) and Yale (1937-1953), contain awards; biographical statements; correspondence (1959); memorials; newspaper clippings (1936-1959); research papers and presentations (1935, 1937, 1952); publications (1927-1951); publications lists; photographs; lists of graduate students and associates concerning his career as a structural engineer, faculty member, and administrator, specifically his recognition by the Institution of Structural Engineers (1958), his paper presentation "Common Sense in Structural Design" at the Symposium of the American Society of Civil Engineers (1935), his ideas for redesigning engineering curricula, and his research on strucural analysis. Also includes his lecture notes from Yale (1952-1953).
