The University of Illinois is a procession of people who have met in Urbana-Champaign for purposes of storing knowledge already acquired, disseminating knowledge now possessed and searching for new knowledge. Students, faculty, administrators, civil service staff and visitors have engaged in activities, built buildings and prepared themselves for careers. The origins of this enterprise go back more than 130 years.
