Ripping Audio Records Using Exact Audio Copy

  1. Open Exact Audio Copy.  Load CD into CD drive.
  2. If a “Configure AccurateRip” window opens, select “Configure.”  If it asks for another Key Disc, insert another CD and select ok.
  3. Under “EAC” on top left, select “EAC Options”, keep all pre-selected options the same and set the following:
    • Extraction: set error recovery quality to high
    • Tools: check “automatically write status report…” and “append checksum to status report”
    • Filename: use as much information as possible for the file name (title_date)
    • Directories: specify the record series location for saving files in the electronic records repository (\\lib-archives-fs.ad.uillinois.edu\UniversityArchives\archives\Electronic Records Repository\UA\)
  4. Select ok.

  5. EAC is now set for extraction.  Select the WAV image on the left side to create uncompressed WAV files.
  6. Once extraction is complete, select “create log” and save it to the appropriate preservation folder within the record series.
  7. Now that the preservation copy is complete, select the CMP image on the left to create a compressed access copy.
  8. Select “create log” and save it to the appropriate preservation folder within the record series.
