The 3rd Armored Division Association Archives at the University of Illinois is a valuable resource for research, especially studies involving the actions of the 3rd Armored Division and the First Army. The wide range of items donated by veterans of all units within the division has made the Association archives a comprehensive historical record of one of the finest U.S. army divisions in World War II.
The archives is still growing, and it will continue to serve as a unique repository for documenting the lives, activities, and experiences of the soldiers who served in the Third Armored Division.
Important Note:The 3AD Archives are located at our Horticulture Field Laboratory Location, 1707 S. Orchard in Urbana. Since this location is not staffed full time, we strongly suggest that you contact the Archivist.
This website contains revised versions of the brochures 3rd Armored Division Association Archives, (September 1993) and Preserving Your Divison Heritage (July, 1999). Both are available from the University Archives.
