American Music Month 2013 Continues with “Chocolate Woman Dreams the Milky Way” November 20 and 21

First Nations playwright and actor Monique Mojica (Guna and Rappahannock) creates a powerful journey that layers the stories of a girl-soldier, a Daughter from the Stars, and Sky Woman Falling (First Woman) with re-tellings of cultural stories of the Grandmothers of Creation in her exciting new production, Chocolate  Woman Dreams the Milky Way. Mojica, accompanied by her mother—Spider Woman Theater co-founder Gloria Miguel—weaves realities to create a daring, thought-provoking narrative of creation, conflict, and healing. This is a co-presentation of Krannert Center, Native American House, and the American Indian Studies Program that is supported by the Illinois Program for Research in the Humanities.
