If you’re looking for something fun to do during this Sunday’s rainy weather, why not visit the Spurlock Museum for a great jazz performance program that focuses on America’s great jazz tenor saxophone players and their influences on some of our community’s great jazz artists — Randy Salman, Reginald Lewis, Grace Calderon and Chip McNeill. The program is free and open to the general public.
For those who would prefer to listen to great jazz while sipping a beer, glass of wine, or something stronger, then plan on coming to the Rose Bowl Tavern between 5 and 7 for what promises to be a great show. This too is free and open to the public, but the drinks and snacks will cost you a little bit of change. This special music program is presented in conjunction with the Sousa Archives’ “The Imperfect Saxophone,” exhibition that looks at America’s complex social and cultural relationship with the saxophone during a period known as the “saxophone craze.” Hope you can join us for what promises to be a great afternoon of music.
